Getting started in small electronics and micro-computers is way easier than you might think—and it’s surprisingly fun and rewarding to see something you wired, coded or assembled come to life electrically. We can help get you started—where you go from there is completely up to you and your imagination.
“My old man is a television repair man, he’s got the ultimate set of tools...”
And we at Proto do too. We call it a Maker Bench and all 8 of them are available for you to use. Each bench is fully equipped with a digital solder station, power supply, laptop and a full set of small electronics hand tools. It’s everything you need to make or fix almost anything.
We have a full stock of electronic kits and components to interest both first timers and seasoned solders alike—all available for individual purchase. Our ProtoKit™ line is a curated collection of electronic kits that contain everything you need to create a small electronic project—things like light chasing electronic bugs, old school TV/video games, sound organs, watches and guitar pedals. We also stock micro-computer kits like Arduinos and Raspberry Pi’s as well as sensors, electrical components and how-to books. We think there’s a little something here for every interest and skill level.
That’s exactly what we love to hear. The entire staff at proto is trained and waiting to show you just how fun and easy making electronics can be. From a quick lesson on how to solder to a simple overview on programming microcontrollers, we’re all here to help. We want to make sure you have a great time. From young to old, novice to expert, we want you to leave with not only something amazing that you built, but the knowledge, skills and confidence that you can make almost anything you can imagine.
Bench time pricing is straight forward and simple, just the way you like it. Buy an electronics kit from us or bring in a project from home, you can rent any of our 8 Maker Benches for $25/hr. The cost includes tool kit and up to two people per bench. Little makers require adult supervision.
